The Student Recreation Centre of the Universitat Politècnica de València is hosting the exhibition “Guarded Prognosis. Artistic Resistances to the Climate Crisis” (Pronóstico Reservado), a project that invites visitors to reflect on the climate emergency through artistic creation and social commitment.
The exhibition is part of the project “Clim-art: Young People Defending Global Climate Justice and Human Rights through Art”, funded by the Generalitat Valenciana and developed by ActionAid and Integra2 Mundo. This Citizenship Education initiative seeks to bring young people closer to the challenges of climate justice through artistic disciplines capable of fostering reflection, dialogue and critical awareness.
The exhibition brings together works by students from the UPV Faculty of Fine Arts that explore the consequences of climate change for particularly vulnerable people, communities and territories. Through different visual languages, the artworks show how environmental impacts do not affect everyone equally and how certain economic, colonial and extractivist dynamics contribute to worsening existing inequalities.
Under the banner of artistic resistance, the exhibition offers a critical perspective on dominant narratives that downplay the climate crisis and encourages us to rethink our collective responsibility in the face of a reality that is already here. The works invite audiences to question unsustainable development models, make situations of vulnerability visible, and explore new narratives centred on climate justice, human rights and human dignity.
“Guarded Prognosis” turns art into a tool for protest, memory and social transformation, creating a space for collective reflection on one of the greatest challenges of our time.
