Accessibility statement

The Universitat Politècnica de València, through its Vice-Rectorate for Students and Entrepreneurship, is committed to making the website of the Student Recreation Centre (CALUM) accessible, in accordance with Spanish Royal Decree 1112/2018 of 7 September on the accessibility of public-sector websites and mobile applications, which transposes Directive (EU) 2016/2102.

This accessibility statement applies to the website calum.upv.es (formerly casadelalumno.blogs.upv.es), including the activity and opening-hours calendars, which the site itself generates. It does not apply to content on other domains that the site links to or loads on request: YouTube videos, UPV forms, intranet and Electronic Office, Microsoft Bookings and Monnegre bookings, social media and the building’s air-quality panel. The University’s main portal has its own accessibility statement.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with Royal Decree 1112/2018 because of the exemptions and the non-compliances listed below. In September 2026 the whole site was reviewed (automated tests with axe-core on the templates in the three languages, on mobile and desktop and in high-contrast mode, plus a manual keyboard and content review) and the faults found were fixed; the list below sets out what remains.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

a) Non-compliance with Royal Decree 1112/2018

  • Many images in posts have no text alternative, above all photos of activities and images published before the 2025-2026 academic year (the featured images of that year and the works of the 20th Artistic Creation Competition already have one), and on some posters and competition entries the text alternative comes from the file name and does not describe the image [requirement 9.1.1.1 Non-text content of UNE-EN 301549:2022]. Enlargeable thumbnails without a text alternative in older galleries are announced only as “Enlarge image”.
  • Videos of activities published on YouTube may lack captions and audio description [requirements 9.1.2.2 and 9.1.2.3 of UNE-EN 301549:2022].
  • Many activity posters are published as images of text without all their information also being in the text of the post [requirement 9.1.4.5 Images of text of UNE-EN 301549:2022].
  • PDF documents are untagged (among them the signed monthly timetables of 2026 and the call rules from 2023 to 2026) and some are scanned, so they cannot be read with a screen reader [requirement 10 Non-web documents of UNE-EN 301549:2022]. The information in the signed timetables is also available as accessible HTML on the Opening hours page.
  • Older posts contain links whose text does not describe their destination, such as “here” [requirement 9.2.4.4 Link purpose (in context) of UNE-EN 301549:2022].
  • Some passages in another language within the text (titles of works, names of organisations or quotations) are not marked up with their language [requirement 9.3.1.2 Language of parts of UNE-EN 301549:2022]. Content shown in Spanish because it has not been translated yet is marked up.

b) Disproportionate burden

Not applicable.

c) The content is not within the scope of the applicable legislation

  • Office file formats (PDF and others) published before 20 September 2018 that do not fully meet the accessibility requirements.
  • Pre-recorded time-based media published before 23 September 2020.
  • Third-party content that is neither developed nor funded by the University nor under its control: YouTube videos, the air-quality panel, the linked forms and booking tools, and posts on social media.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 12 September 2026.

The method used to prepare the statement was a self-assessment carried out by the public body itself, using automated tools (axe-core) and manual review.

The statement was last reviewed on 28 September 2026.

Requests for accessible information and complaints

You can submit:

  • a) a complaint about compliance with the requirements of Royal Decree 1112/2018;
  • b) a request for accessible information about content that is outside the scope of Royal Decree 1112/2018 or exempt from the accessibility requirements because it would impose a disproportionate burden.

A request for accessible information must clearly state the facts, reasons and request so that it can be established that it is a reasonable and legitimate request.

Complaints and requests are submitted to the UPV Accessibility Unit (ura@upv.es) or through the UPV Electronic Office, in accordance with Spanish Law 39/2015 of 1 October on common administrative procedure. Feedback, complaints and requests for accessible information are received and handled by the Universitat Politècnica de València as the body responsible for the content of this website.

Enforcement procedure

If a request for accessible information or a complaint has been rejected, if you disagree with the decision taken, or if the reply does not meet the requirements of Article 12.5 of Royal Decree 1112/2018, you may lodge a claim. You may also lodge a claim if twenty working days have passed without a reply.

The claim may be submitted to the Accessibility Unit of the Universitat Politècnica de València (ura@upv.es, telephone +34 96 387 70 00) or through the UPV Electronic Office. Claims are received and handled by the Universitat Politècnica de València.

Optional content

Commitment to accessibility

The site was redesigned in 2026 with accessibility in mind from design through to content publishing, aiming at level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) as included in standard UNE-EN 301549:2022. Measures include:

  • Semantic structure with page regions, ordered headings, a skip-to-content link and breadcrumbs.
  • Menus, language switcher and search fully operable with a keyboard, with a visible focus.
  • Sufficient colour contrast and text that can be enlarged with the browser zoom (Ctrl and +) without loss of content.
  • No carousels, auto-playing animations or pop-up windows.
  • Opening hours and the agenda are shown as text tables and lists generated by the site itself; documents state their format, size and language; videos and the air-quality panel load only on request and with an alternative link.
  • An “Accessibility” button on every page with high contrast, larger text, more spacing and fewer animations; the site also respects Windows high contrast and the reduced-motion preference.
  • Images can be enlarged in a keyboard-operable viewer, and links that open a new tab say so.
  • Optimised for current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari and for any screen size.

Given the volume of older documents and posts, some content may still fall short of the required guidelines. If you find a page, document or form you cannot access properly, please let us know through the channels above.
