Want to set up a student association? For the UPV to recognise it, and for it to use the rooms and services of the Student Recreation Centre, the association must be legally constituted and then entered in the UPV Register of Associations. This page summarises the steps and links to the official resources.
Requirements for the UPV Register
Under the Regulations of the UPV Register of Associations (PDF, Spanish and Valencian) (opens in a new tab), the association must be constituted under Organic Law 1/2002 or Valencian Law 14/2008, be entered in the corresponding public register, and also:
- Have at least 10 members.
- At least three quarters of its members and two thirds of its board must belong to the university community.
- Operate freely, autonomously and with genuine participation of its members, and be non-profit.
- Have aims and activities compatible with the values, principles and purposes of the UPV.
- Not have its registered office inside the university.
- Have a name that cannot be confused with other registered associations or with university bodies.
How to create the association
- Check that the name is available in the association names file (opens in a new tab) of the Spanish Ministry of the Interior.
- Draw up the founding minutes and the statutes (aims, activities, internal rules and scope). The Associations Code published by the BOE (opens in a new tab) compiles the applicable legislation (in Spanish).
- Register the association in the register that matches its scope: the National Register of Associations (Ministry of the Interior e-office) (opens in a new tab) or the Register of Associations of the Valencian Community (Regional Ministry of Justice (opens in a new tab)). The Valencian Youth Institute (IVAJ) (opens in a new tab) (in Spanish and Valencian) also provides information on youth associations.
- Apply to the Spanish Tax Agency for the association’s tax ID (NIF) (opens in a new tab).
- File at the UPV General Registry, through its e-office (opens in a new tab), an application addressed to the Rector requesting entry in the UPV Register of Associations and assignment to the vice-rectorate matching the association’s aims, together with certified copies of the founding minutes, the statutes stamped by the public register, the registration decision showing the register number, and the NIF.
- Once registered, contact the Student Recreation Centre (casalum@ddaa.upv.es) to use its rooms and services for associations.
