The Student Recreation Centre is hosting the Mercadona IT Hackathon today, 14 April, an intensive day where teams of students from the Universitat Politècnica de València face real technological challenges proposed by professionals from Mercadona IT.
The event, organised within the framework of the Mercadona IT – UPV Chair, aims to bring students closer to the reality of working in high-level technological environments, fostering teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving in real contexts.
For 12 uninterrupted hours, the selected teams work side by side with industry professionals in the Sala Ximo Mora of the Student Recreation Centre, competing for prizes such as iPads for the winning team, a curved Dell monitor raffled among the participants, and other giveaways.
The Hackathon is part of the activities promoted by the new Mercadona IT Chair, created in collaboration between Mercadona and the UPV to promote the training of technological talent and the connection between the academic and business worlds.
